Lesson Plan-Science Jello
During my 4 years at UNLV studying elementary education I have created dozens of lesson plans. One of my favorites came from my second practicum. I created a science lesson that involved the making of Jello.
COE Principal 1 (Content Knowledge): The COE graduate knows and understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the discipline(s) and creates learning experiences that make these aspects of content meaningful. They are passionate about their subects and their work

During my second practicum at UNLV I was placed in a 5th grade classroom. This assignment really helped me understand the various subject groups within a classroom. Although students can be placed in to many subgroups, for this activity we were asked to chose 6 that really stood out. This assignment was important in understanding how to help students learn at their full potential.
COE Principal 3 (Diverse Learners): The COE graduate knows and understands how individuals differ in their approaches to learning and creates opportunities that are equitable and adaptable to the needs of Diverse learners. They demonstrate dispositions that reflect a caring nature toward their clients.

In the ASWII I completed, I created a section of strategies that were beneficial in helping me better understand my subgroups that I chose. These strategies help determine how to guide a student who did not understand a lesson. With all students being different learners it is important to remember to help aid students differently. These strategies will help reteach a student effectively.

Communities
During a social studies class at UNLV, Raquel Young and I completed an assignment on the community of our Practicum 1 elementry school. We researched the community around the school and compared factors of the community to the school performance. It was a great assignment and really helped me understand how certain communities can and effect various schools.COE Principles: 3. They demonstrate dispositions that reflect a caring nature toward their clients.
4. Principle 4 (Planning Processes): The COE graduate understands planning processes based upon knowledge of content, learners characteristics, the community, and curriculum goals and standards. They are active participants in the local k-12 education system.
